Legalized It

Record label sites are great sources for free. legal downloads, especially when there’s an upcoming new release from one of their artists.  They entice you with teaser songs, just so you’ll be sucked into enticed into forking out the bucks for a cd or a complete download.  What I appreciate is the free streaming, so that I can decide whether I like it enough to spend my dough.  That’s such a great perk, since I have been burned so many times by an album that contains 1 or 2 good songs on an otherwise craptastic offering.

Here’s a short list of freebies I found this morning, a mix of older and new releases.

From Sub Pop:

Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore – Something, Somewhere, Sometime

Fruit Bats – My Unusual Friend

Ruby Suns – Cranberry

From Matador:

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists – The Mighty Sparrow

From Secretly Canadian:

Throw Me The Statue – Ancestors

Magnolia Electric Co Josephine

Etc:

Shearwater – Black Eyes (from Shearwater’s own site)

I love their cd from last year, “The Ruminant Band.” Sub Pop has a download of the title song. Check it out!
