I Like My Rabbit Peppered with Some Uke

I was poking around on the Indie Rock Cafe site, and found this song in a post about upcoming albums in fall 2010.

The band is called Pepper Rabbit, and even though they wear facepaint like Ke$ha does, they are nothing like her, thank goodness.   Pepper Rabbit is a duo,   Xander Singh and Luc Laurent,  and they’re more akin to Sufjan Stevens in that they are aren’t afraid to experiment with sounds from all kinds of instruments, and they are quite ballad-centric and folky.  They even have a song called Harvest Moon,  which simply must be filled with folky goodness, just like Neil Young‘s song, which happens to share the title.  You can hear that, along with other songs from their recent release, Beauregard, at Pepper Rabbit‘s myspace page.

Right here, right now, you can hear another song from that album, cuz I’m nice like that.   This one’s called Older Brother, and it features a lovely ukulele part, plucking happily along under the sweet vocals . I feel all warm and peaceful after listening to it, not unlike the way I feel after a listen to Israel  Kamakawiwoʻole’s version of Over The Rainbow.

Older Brother

Ooh, that is a charmer! I’m so glad that the ukelele is having its long-overdue moment in the Sun of Cool.

Yeah, every now and then, we need to hear a uke to lighten the mood.
