New Music Friday

Please let there not be any green album covers and no Irish music. I heard enough yesterday on Sirius XM, when just about every station was dipping into the St. Patrick’s Day theme.  I mean, I love The Pogues and The Irish Rovers and U2 as much as any music fan, but…hello?….OVERLOAD.

Pick of the Week:

Grant Lee Phillips – The Narrows Now will he return to Stars Hollow in the Gilmore Girls return?  His first new record since 2012.

Notable:

Iggy Pop – Post Pop Depression

Cullen Omori – New Misery – Sub Pop Records

Glenn Jones – Fleeting Thrill Jockey Records

You know I have a thing for guitarists, right? This is gorgeous.

James – Girl at the End of the World  BMG/Universal

Their 14th album! Wow. I dig this cut, though it’s pretty subdued.

The Rest:

The Drones – Feelin Kinda Free  Tropical Fuck Storm Records

Levitation Room – Ethos   Burger Records

Trippy sounding pop/rock.

But if you prefer chamber pop…

Meilyr Jones – 2013  Moshi Moshi Records

This makes me want to dance, which isn’t pretty.

That’s all folks.

Love and kisses (but not green ones.)
